The Mistborn series is an epic fantasy saga written by Brandon Sanderson. It consists of seven books: the first three form the original trilogy (Era 1), while books four through seven make up the Wax and Wayne series (Era 2). The story takes place in the Cosmere universe, specifically on the planet Scadrial, where magic is drawn from metals, with different types of magic users harnessing their unique abilities.
People capable of using Allomancy are known as Allomancers. They can “burn” metals to fuel various physical and mental enhancements. Those who can burn only one type of metal are called Mistings, while those who can use all metals are known as Mistborn.
The primary Allomantic metals are: iron, steel, tin, pewter, copper, bronze, zinc, and brass.
Each power has a push-pull dynamic, meaning one metal pulls while its counterpart pushes.
This system allows individuals, called Feruchemists, to store certain physical attributes in metal objects. Unlike Allomancers, who burn metals for immediate power, Feruchemists use metals as storage units, allowing them to access the stored properties later. Attributes such as memory, mental clarity, weight, and age can be stored. However, this requires an initial trade-off—for example, storing strength means becoming weaker for a time to build up reserves.
