Moonfall

Moonfall is a romantic fantasy series by author Sarah A. Parker. The first book, released in 2024, is titled When the Moon Hatched and follows the story of Raeve, a young woman shrouded in mystery with a past deeply buried within her.

The World:

Divided into three realms – The Fade, The Shade, and The Burn – each ruled by a Vaegor brother.

• The Fade: A cold, snowy land where those who hear the songs of the creators must wear elemental beads. The Fade is ruled by Cadok Vaegor.
• The Shade: A perpetually dark, polar region ruled by Tyroth Vaegor, home to moonplume nests.
• The Burn: A hot, tropical land ruled by Kaan Vaegor, prone to frequent storms.

Dragons in Moonfall Series:

• Daga-Morrk: The bond between a rider and their dragon, granting the rider control over dragonfire.
• Moonfall: When a dragon feels its time has come, it ascends into the sky, solidifies into a moon. Dragons that fail to moonfall become dragon bloodstones.
• Moonplumes: Obtaining a moonplume egg is an arduous task. You must venture to the harsh Netheryn region, their natural habitat, where the climate is arctic. Unable to tolerate sunlight, their bodies would burn. Moonplumes possess radiant skin in shades of gray, pearl, iridescent, or white. Their elegant bodies, long necks, and large black eyes make them a sight to behold
• Sabersythes: Sabersythes nest in the fiery lands of Gondragh, a region characterized by its hot climate and numerous volcanoes. These heat-loving creatures cannot endure cold temperatures for long. They are large quadrupeds, adorned with scales, spines, and snouts bearing multiple tusks. Their coloration varies across a spectrum of rust, bronze, red, brown, black, and gold.
• Moltenmaws: Moltenmaws nest in the Bhoggith region, situated within the lands of the Fade. They are feathered creatures with beaks and boast a vibrant plumage. These dragons are remarkably adaptable to diverse climatic conditions, making their eggs the easiest to obtain.

Magic:

• Elemental Beads: Grant those who hear the creator’s songs the ability to wield elemental powers.

Iron has the power to sever the bond with the Creators. Dragonflame, on the other hand, can reveal traces of ancient runes.

Rune practitioners, known as Runi, wear white robes adorned with engraved knobs that signify their level of mastery. Wooden knobs denote beginners, while diamond knobs mark the most advanced.

Specific symbols on these knobs represent different abilities:

• Engraving Stick: The ability to inscribe basic runes.
• Golden Knob: The power to discern truth from falsehood, known as Truthtune.
• Dragon Flame Symbol: The ability to see traces of past runes without the aid of dragonfire, called Dragonsight.
• Knotted Thread Symbol: The power to read minds, known as Mindweft.
• Fleshthread: A practitioner skilled in healing through the use of runes.
