Elizabeth Lim

Elizabeth grew up with a heavy dose of fairy tales, myths and songs. Her passion for storytelling began at the age of 10 when she started writing stories based on Sailor Moon, Sweet Valley, and Star Wars and posting them online, only to realize, “Wow, people are actually reading my stuff. And that’s pretty cool!”

But after a teacher told her she had “too much voice” in her essays, Elizabeth took a break from creative writing to focus on not failing English.

Over the years, Elizabeth became a composer for movies and video games and even earned a doctorate in music composition. But writing was always something she missed, and she turned to writing short stories when she needed a break from her studies. One day, when she decided to write and finish a novel, things got serious – and she hasn’t looked back since.

Elizabeth graduated from Harvard College with a BA in Music and a minor in East Asian Studies, and completed her graduate studies at the Juilliard School. She grew up in Northern California and Tokyo, Japan, and now lives in New York City with her husband and daughters.
