The debut novel of Joe Abercrombie is the first installment of the “The First Law” series and represents a new step in the history of the fantasy genre. It tells of barbarians scarred by bitter battles, nobles crippled in soul and body, a bloody past, and a tormenting present. There are returned ancient mages, warring allies, and ambitious but insidious wars. The novel became very popular with readers and critics.
The first installment of the Viking-inspired series “Shattered Sea” – “Half a King” was published in 2014 and won the Locus Award for Best Adult Debut Novel. The other two books, “Half a World” and “Half a War”, were published in 2015.
