Leigh Bardugo was born on April 6 1975, in Jerusalem, Israel. He grew up in Southern California in the San Fernando Valley. He graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor’s degree in English Philology from Yale University. After graduation, he worked in advertising, journalism, and even makeup and special effects.

Her first novel, Shadow and Bone, from the Grishaverse series, was published in 2012.
